Atmosphere utilizes traditional techniques found in dongyanghwa (동양화) juxtaposed against the more modern medium of fine tipped ink pens to depict the ebb and flow of the air and energy surrounding us. The painting began as an abstract study to utilize traditional techniques I learned during my time in South Korea in a contemporary manner, ultimately creating something that has evolved from its roots in tradition.
